*DelGrosso bill to ease administrative burden on business passes House
Denver—Today, the House unanimously passed House Bill 1114, carried by House Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso (R-Loveland). The bill repeals state statute mandating business owners produce a duplicative employee
The federally required I-9 form filed by employers, verifies lawful
presence and legal eligibility of employees. Colorado currently requires employers submit a form confirming completion of the I-9.
*”This state form is almost an exact copy of the federal I-9 and does
little more than require employers devote additional time and energy
confirming they filled out the federal form,” said DelGrosso. “Employee verification is a top priority, but the reality is Colorado’s form does not strengthen the verification process, and I am pleased my colleagues in the House agreed eliminate this unnecessary burden on business.”*
House Bill 1114 moves to the Senate for discussion.
