> Denver—Today, the House Judiciary Committee unanimously passed House Bill 1129, sponsored by Assistant Minority Leader Polly Lawrence (R-Roxborough Park). The bill expands the definition of who may be held accountable for charitable fraud crimes and strengthens the penalties for those who knowingly engage in charitable fraud at any level. >

> “The people of Colorado are very generous with their donations and my bill helps ensure that those charitable donations end up where Coloradans intend,” said Lawrence. “The responsibility to enforce consumer protections and prosecute charitable fraud is more frequently falling on the states and my bill sends a strong message that the state of Colorado will not tolerate the defrauding of its people.” >
